Vestiges is performed to an original score by Tim Russell. In paper dresses, the dancers appear to leap out of their skins, disappearing from the darkroom into the dark. The duet form provides the basis of the work, explored through a series of transformative, close-contact investigations. As the dance evolves, the paper dresses disintegrate, leaving telltale vestiges of their passage. The physical imprint of a dancer and the residue she leaves behind serve as a metaphor for the fragility and transience of the human condition.

One continuous shot of improvisational movement.
“Shifting Ground” by choreographer Li Chiao-Ping features fast-paced, kinetic choreography that shifts rapidly through time and space. Incorporating text from survivors of the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, the work is a collision of thoughts on natural disasters and geologic processes. Danced by Rachel Krinsky, Nicole Roerick and Liz Sexe, the work includes original music composed and performed by Tim Russell and visual projections by Daniel Feiler.
