In looking for a name for their house as a performance space, Timothy Russell and Liz Sexe found inspiration in both the green of their house’s exterior and that of the performance space walls, leading them to the name Common Sage. Common Sage is a place where communal knowledge is cultivated through reflection and experience. As it is with the plant, Salvia officinalis, the cultivation of this communal knowledge is also perennial, persistent and enduring. Located in Madison, Wisconsin, Common Sage serves as a space to bear artistic practice for the common, free of pomposity and pretense.
